However, after managing for years to suppress his rare gift, Dan decides to put "The Shining" to good use as the local hospice"s benevolent "Doctor Sleep"; and before he knows it, he makes contact with Abra Stone: a young girl with far more superior shining abilities. But, their strong telepathic bond attracts the attention of the semi-eternal psychic vampire, Rose the Hat, and her marauding gang of followers known as "The True Knot", who prey on the innocent, and feed off the effervescent essence of pain. Now, once more, the restless and famished spirits of Colorado"s snow-capped purgatory in the mountains invite Dan over for one last winter. Aging and time can be so incredibly cruel. Before starting I want to tell a Quote "Live long, eat well" This sentence will tell you the story of a boy called Danny. The story from The Shinning (1980. Well, have you ever thought what happened to Danny & His Mom after The Shinning (1980. It may seems like a spoiler actually it isn"t cause this movie based on different storyline. And IMDb mentioned it in the storyline.
Trust me I watched 1 hour 54 minutes without giving any pause or break whatsoever. This movie entirely got me, it was a joy ride. The storyline and acting was very strong, didn"t find any glitch. Before watching I checked IMDb storyline and I was sanguine that this movie won"t be a disappointment. Finally after watching I can ensure you one thing that you won"t regret about it.
#Storyline: This movie is about a boy called Danny. He was born with a gift ; he can see what other people thinking about him moreover what is going to happen near in the future especially if someone is dying. Hopefully there is another girl call "Adra"who has the same gift. She can go to other people"s head. But things went wrong when their hunter found them. Now they are coming to get the girl. What will happen to the girl?
There"s some beautiful things I enjoyed about this movie like when someone is dying a Cat can sense it. The Cat was looking at the victim"s eye without a blink, it"s not scary but it was something different i found in this movie.
Rose (Rebecca Ferguson) oh she was marvellous in this movie, can"t believe she is 36 but she looked like 21. Her acting was very appealing, she made every action perfectly. Danny aka Ewan McGregor (protagonist) was wonderful. I Don"t want to say more about him cause he was the life of this movie. That little girl Adra was pretty astonishing. She acted very well.
The vfx aka visual effects was very good. Every scene of this movie seemed perfect could can"t deny it. I was pleased with every thrilling step of this movie. It"s a thriller movie so you will know everything after watching the full film.
A movie you shouldn"t miss. Happy watching.
Well I give 8.0 out of 10.

You missed how Dannys outfit when he returned to the hotel is color-reversed from Jacks, a blue jacket and red flannel. And while he chased Abra, he had the same limp. 1:40 He had the high ground. but he should"ve gone for the head. The music is so sad but a reminder that time is limited ??. How did this movie bomb it was so good a true sequel worthy of a watch.

The way he says medicine, medicine is what it is was so Jack Nicholson

Rose The Hat reminded me from Sleepwalkers, when they suck energy or starts feeding. The Shining was the first horror movie I ever watched. I was 8,and it scared me for weeks after watching it lol that was the start of my love for horror. YES YES YES YES YESSSS. 0:30 - 0:50 that moment and scene is absolutely stunning a visual masterpiece?? really enjoyed this movie. I never understood why Danny didn"t just roll down the stairs. lol. Here"s something I realized rose"s name is rose the hat like the magicians top hat she wears and abra"s name is abra like the first 4 letters of the magic words a magician says abracadabra. it"s like abra and rose are connected.

A more justifying end for someone like her, there has seldom been. Nor more enjoyable. Synopsis Dare to go back Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the "shine". Instinctively recognising that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers. Honestly I was kind of bored, it has its moments but I cannot recommend anyone rushing out to see this in theatres. Overly long, much more of a thriller than a horror movie, can’t say I was ever frightened. More of a superhero/vampire movie than anything else believe it or not. Rent this. Very much 2010 to THE SHINING"s 2001, a very sturdy straight-up genre sequel made by a solid, unpretentious craftsman, just about the best available version of a film nobody needed and that couldn"t possibly live up to its legacy. Does a good job of reckoning with King"s cornball voice and his sillier tendencies, mostly because Flanagan"s formal echoes are for the most part purposeful and effective, only rarely dipping into nostalgic callbacks. I"ll forgive it for not sticking the emotional landing. Rebecca Ferguson as Demon Vagabond Stevie Nicks is a hell of a mood. Truly entertained and engaged throughout. Reminds me in many ways of Hannibal... a sequel that leans towards a comic book sensibility. It also had a real sense of sadness about it and reminded me of the way I felt watching The Irishman - both films asking the audience to participate in ruminations of life in the twilight hours. Ewan McGregor is solid and deserves recognition for his performance. But unfortunately (yes, I know I"m a broken record) the digital cinematography really took me out. This is a sequel to an incredibly shot film and I wish there would have been more of an effort to emulate the look of Kubrick"s classic. Watched at Rio Theater - Vancouver someone forgot to cut out all the dumb shit about psychic children, as if Stanley Kubrick didn"t leave them all the clues. 80 An often repeated composition in Mike Flanagan"s Doctor Sleep adaptation is the chilling image of a person greeting the decaying, cackling "room 237" spirit from Kubrick"s film in a bathroom far away from the Overlook Hotel, shutting the door behind them in an effort to confront the evil head-on. Whereas Kubrick"s film often revealed ghosts as totems of existential memory and the pains of being alive ("great party, isn"t it? "), it is the reconciliation between King"s overt mythology and Kubrick"s image-making that Flanagan finds the courage to face the fear within us all. His often ruthless scare tactics are ultimately in service of never being afraid of anything except the inevitable - a hopeful, often melancholic gesture. Doctor Sleep then concludes as a grand horror epic, never losing sight of its characters even in a final stretch of familiar iconography and callbacks. I"m surprised this was made, but I"m even happier that it exists. when u take that vape life too far Recent reviews Wow. Not sure how I missed this in theaters. Mike Flanagan really swung for the fences with this film. This seemed like it was a real challenge creatively and I was impressed with how certain things were handled. Not everything was perfect and some things don"t add up and the story could"ve used a bit tightening up in some spots but I think what was done was a real accomplishment. Really interesting how this ties into Kubrick"s film but it doesn"t really rely on Kubrick. Well done. Really enjoyed this. Food Bank Fundraising Request from Sarah L. I was on Genre Grinder recently talking about my favorite horror films of the past decade and we decided* that the two main movements in horror were the James Wan spook-em-up and the art-house this-ain"t-just-a-horror-movie A24 thing and Mike Flanagan is interesting because he straddles those two worlds. He stays pretty faithfully in his lane (he has visual ideas but they almost never drive the film) but almost all of his movies are About Grief in a very direct way. It means a lot of his work comes across as very middlebrow but that means that he"s the perfect partner for Stephen King. Movies | ‘Doctor Sleep’ Review: A Duller ‘Shining’ In this Stephen King adaptation, Ewan McGregor fights old and new demons. Credit... Jessica Miglio/Warner Bros. Doctor Sleep Directed by Mike Flanagan Drama, Fantasy, Horror, Thriller R 2h 31m “Doctor Sleep, ” Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of the novel by Stephen King, catches up with Danny Torrance, who as a child was terrorized by demons and his own father at a spooky Rocky Mountain hotel. That was in “The Shining, ” published by King in 1977 and filmed by Stanley Kubrick in a movie released in 1980. The new film, depending on how you look at it, is a sequel, an update, a corrective or a disaster. King was never a fan of Kubrick’s cold, meticulous gothic, which has nonetheless gathered a sturdy cult following. Flanagan, while hewing more closely to the novelist’s ideas about evil, innocence and addiction, pays tribute to some of Kubrick’s visual signatures, especially in flashbacks that take grown-up Dan (as he’s called now) back to the Overlook. He remembers a dad (Henry Thomas) with darting Jack Nicholson eyebrows and a mother (Alex Essoe) with Shelley Duvall saucer eyes. Dan, played by a subdued Ewan McGregor, has had a hard time of it. After his mother’s death, he spirals into alcoholism, eventually finding solace and sobriety in a small New Hampshire town. He also finds a job, as an orderly in a home for the elderly, and a friend, named Billy (Cliff Curtis). The ghouls who used to haunt him have been put away, thanks to a mental trick he learns from the ghost of his old pal Dick Hallorann (Carl Lumbly, in the role played by Scatman Crothers in “The Shining. ”) Meanwhile — well, there’s a whole lot of meanwhile. In print, “Doctor Sleep” runs to 531 pages, which is fairly compact by King’s recent standards. This screen adaptation feels like a clumsy hybrid. It’s a little too long and winding to work as a feature film, especially in the horror genre, and might have worked better as a limited series, with a little more room for the many characters who populate its grimly imagined American landscape. Its slow pacing and diffuse suspense make the experience more like a book on tape than anything else, in spite of a few lively performances. Dan joins forces with a young girl named Abra (Kyliegh Curran, making an impressive film debut), who lives in another part of New Hampshire and who has gifts similar to his. Though if his extrasensory abilities shine, hers blaze like stadium lights. Her powers attract the attention of a predatory cabal known as the Knot, who travel the country in a caravan looking for psychically talented children to torture and kill. Their leader is Rose (Rebecca Ferguson), a blue-eyed seductress in a Babadook hat. The Knot feeds on steam, which is the soul energy (or something) that escapes from shiners in their death throes. Sometimes, as in the case of a sullen teenager (Emily Alyn Lind), the Knot recruits youngsters instead of devouring them. It’s not clear what they plan to do with Abra, but she and Dan fight back using wild mental tricks which Flanagan conveys by means of mostly pedestrian, occasionally surprising special effects. “Doctor Sleep” is a not a Stephen-King-scares-the-pants-off-you kind of movie. It’s a Stephen-King-invites-you-to-ponder-the-nature-of-evil kind of movie. ( “It” managed to be both; “It Chapter Two” failed to be either. ) There are some bad sections — the gratuitously sadistic rendering of a Knot victim’s fate — and some not-bad ones. Nothing that will keep you awake at night, but you probably won’t fall asleep in the middle either. Doctor Sleep Rated R. Ambient evil. Running time: 2 hours 31 minutes.

He may have peaked in E.T., but I"ve always thought Henry Thomas to an underrated actor, and this short but chilling scene only confirms that, I think. Now of course he"s no Nicholson, but that"s sort of the point here. He"s not playing Jack Nicholson. He"s playing Jack Torrance! And what worse and yet also most appropriate fate than to spend all eternity as bartender of the gold room? In a way it reaffirms what most fans have always felt about Nicholson and Kubrick"s take on the character. That Jack was a bastard long before the Torrance"s ever came to the Overlook. He had no redeeming features to speak of, as in the novel. He was just a weak, angry, selfish drunk who resented his family, and the hotel took full advantage of that, turning him into a kind of puppet. It"s also a really tragic moment because Dan realizes that try as might, his father is beyond saving. He"s become a part of the Overlook now. But the animosity is still there. Toxic as ever. But Dan"s not the same man his father was. He may struggle with the same addiction as his father, but he doesn"t have to suffer the same fate. He"s better than that. One day at a time.

She"s the maddest of the hats, best believe she"s the maddest. Perfect timing when she"s shining, she"s a shining apparatus. Currently 5/5 Stars. von: Mike Flanagan | IMDB Rating: 7, 6 | Jahr: 2019. What"s up with movies these days what happened when the production of movies we"re great. only fast & furious still holding it down like it was 2009.
